Inspiration

 The Beginning

It's hard to pin point where all my dreams first originated from. I remember standing in line for a movie premier with my father and out of the corner of my eye there was a poster that I could not help but notice. It was for the "Grindhouse Double Feature: Death Proof and Planet Terror". Something about the visuals and text intrigued me beyond belief. I had no idea what this double feature was about but I wanted to know. When I finally got around to seeing the two films I was amazed by how obscure and bizarre these movies were. But all I could think about was how impressed I was that this director took these ideas of his own and those of his friends, and formulated an incredible set. When I thought deeper about what he had done I realized how inspired I was by his actions. There was no way he could have been worried about the reaction to his movie, or that he was even truly concerned. This was something he loved to do and he made it happen. From there I did research and watched interviews with Quentin Tarantino and my inspiration grew. He is a natural, raw talent that has a passion for film making. He works with his close friends and builds an empire of madness through his cult-classic films like Pulp Fiction, The Kill Bill Volumes, Sin City, Reservoir Dogs, and instant classics like Inglorious Basterds. The hours that him, Robert Rodriguez, and Eli Roth devoted to these films is absolutely phenomenal. They mix in great actors like Josh Brolin and Bruce Willis to secure a bond for success. Everything that this group has ever done is beyond inspirational, and is the root of my passion for film production. They have everything that I want in my own life. Their style, their standard of living, experiences and opportunities, methods of film making, friendships within the industry; it is all so desirable. Personally, it is more than a dream to make this happen for myself, it is a dire need. Since the day of that premier in south Edmonton, I have been drawn towards film making. Everything has a purpose. There was a reason I noticed that poster. There was a reason why I decided to research these men. There was a reason why I noticed Eli Roth's profile on the MySpace homepage, which then led me down the path of respect and absolutely love for his life story. There was a reason why I chose the high school I did. There was a reason why my Communications Technology teacher gave me the information poster about the Vancouver Film School STAND OUT Experience of a lifetime. And in the future, there will be a reason why I put in all this effort, and why I worked so hard to feed that hunger for the film industry. Everything has it's reason, and I will prove mine to the world.

My Role Model In The Film Industry

The amount of respect and love that I have for Eli Roth and his creations is undying. When I look at the path he took to get to where he is today I can feel jealousy along with a sense of pure joy in realization that I am heading down the same path.

His personally directed films like Hotel I & II, Cabin Fever, and  The Rotten Fruit have changed my perspective on the method of filming. I observe all angels, shots, lighting, and tricks within his movies so that I can find a way to understand the ideas behind it all.
